The theme of research reactor technology project is "Sharing neutronics calculation techniques for core management and utilization of research reactors." The objective of the project is to Improve and equalize the level of neutronics calculation techniques for the reactor core management among participating countries to assure the safe and stable operation of research reactors and the promotion of the effective utilization. Research reactors have been utilized for many fields such as beam experiments, medical irradiation, neutron activation analysis, neutron transmutation doping of Si semiconductor, radio isotope production, etc. It is very important for these fields to evaluate neutron flux and neutron spectrum accurately by using neutronics calculation techniques. SRAC code has been selected as a common neutronics calculation code. The code is expected to be used widely in Asian countries because the code is open to the public. The code can treat not only plate type fuels of research reactors but also rod type fuels of commercial reactors. Furthermore, continuous energy Monte Carlo code MVP has been selected as a common neutronics calculation code, too. This code can teat complicated models such as irradiation capsules. RRT project is being continued to advance further safe and stable operation and to strengthen basis of effective utilization of research reactors through the cooperation on sharing neutronics calculation techniques in Asia.
